Dubrovnik was a welcome relief. We went from the bitter cold of Vienna to the spring and summer warmth of this charming coastal town. If you like a small town feel, an abundance of seafood and dramatic natural features, you will love Dubrovnik, also known as the Pearl of the Adriatic.

We had wonderful accommodations in Jadranka Benussi’s home in a "sobe" or room. It was actuallly like an apartment with its own small kitchen and beautiful view of the rooftops and north harbor.

Dubrovnik’s Old Town is contained within the city wall. We spent hours walking the wall from which many of these photos are taken. You will see the old roofs, pre-war, and the new orangey-red tile roofs, built after the destruction from the 1991 Serbo-Croatian War. Rebuilding is still in progress.

We walked, climbed, and explored inside the Old Town and areas beyond for a good 10 hours a day, and loved every second.
